Ahmedabad Darshan - Dada Hari ni Vav ane Mata Bhawani ni Vav

It was an awesome Sunday! Bai came right on time, but sadly there was no water so our clothes were never washed (even we weren't washed, I don't mean by Bai), and our floor was never swept (nothing to do with the lack of water though).

I was really inspired (not due to the above mentioned reasons) to go out and do something and so dragged Bhavin also (he was reluctant to go out unwashed, not by Bai again). A little bit of googling and we found our dream destination...a less explored vav in Ahmedabad called Dada Hari ni Vav. First we got lost around Relief Road and then finally managed to find the Vav near Asarva Mill.

Mehmud Khan, the caretaker, was more then helpful with our questions and in keeping the local urchins away!

We later went to another Vav called Mata Bhawani ni Vav.

The contrast between the two was stark. While the first one was sublime and pure, its feel was almost that of a beautiful dead body. Something with a lost wandering soul, like Dimple's character in Rudali. The second Vav was colorful, and almost gaudy. But it had life. There were people and there were almost living Gods. Can't say which one do I prefer...both had their charm.

These videos are more informative (hahaha, its almost a joke) and less entertaining.

The first video is from Dada Hari ni Vav.

The second video (very long as well) is from Mata Bhawani (it only after numerous attempts that I now remember the name).
